South Philly ended all suspense in the championship by scoring 10 runs in the bottom of the 3rd. South Philly's bats were just too much for Pine Hill's pitchers in this game.
Pine Hill won an exciting game in the semifinals when they defeated Maple Shade 8-7 in 9 innings. Pine Hill tied the game in the bottom of the 7th on back to back 2 out singles by Nick Fabritas and John Gallate and won the game in the 9th on a 2 out single by Glenn Marsden.
The bats of South Philly were the story in the finals.They scored 12 runs on 10 hits and 7 walks. The big hits in the 10 run inning were a 2 run double from Al Baur and a 2 run single by Mark Donato. They sent 14 batters to the plate and had six hits in the inning. Joey Gorman pitched a complete game 2 hit shut out for the win. Joey was also named the game MVP and tournament MVP. He was the winning pitcher in 2 of South Philly's 4 wins. He had a .500 batting average and a .824 on-base percentage for the tournament.
